Riboflavin or Vitamin B2

Poll: Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin?

Does Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin sound cooler to you? Whatever you prefer to call it, this vitamin is worth knowing a little more about than just it's name.

First off, it's an essential component of 2 major coenzymes in your body; FMN and FAD. These 2 coenzymes play critical roles with the growth, development, and function of all the cells in your body. (1) And since the human body has around 37 trillion cells, it's pretty important.

Vitamin B2 also helps keep your homocysteine levels in check. Homocysteine is an amino acid naturally found in your blood, but if your levels of it get too high and out of check, then you may raise your risk for coronary artery disease, heart attacks, blood clots, and strokes. (1) It's again easy to see Riboflavin's importance.

It also plays a role in the process of turning your food into energy. (1) So you can thank Vitamin B2 for putting that sandwich you just ate to good use. Instead of it just sitting in your stomach, it will give you the energy you need to finish reading this :)

So how much do adults need? The RDA for males aged 19+ is 1.3 mg. While the RDA for females aged 19+ who are not pregnant or lactating is 1.1 mg. Luckily, most adults are already getting this amount in their diet. More than 90% of Americans consume an adequate amount of Riboflavin. (1)

And unlike many vitamins, there is no Upper Limit for Vitamin B2. Which means it is safe to consume at very high dosages. (1) That is why we still include the 100% RDA value of 1.3 mg in our Pinnacle Men's Multi, and 1.1 mg in our Pinnacle Women's Multi. This is just extra insurance that everyone truly is getting enough of this critical vitamin.

However, our Multis are not our only product Riboflavin is in. We also included it in our Pinnacle Relax & Sleep Aid. Why? Because it could possibly help with something that many people struggle with at night. Headaches...

Several studies have indicated Vitamin B2 helps with intense headache symptoms, including a meta-analysis. (2) It has shown success at high dosages such as 400 mg, but there is also evidence that the dosage does not need to be that high. (3) A study has shown that 25 mg is just as effective as 400 mg. (4) There is also a study that demonstrates only 27 mg can be absorbed by the body at once anyway. (5)

Therefore, since there is already more than 1 mg in both The Pinnacle Men's and Women's Multis, we included an extra 24 mg in our Pinnacle Relax & Sleep Aid. This gives you the full clinical dosage of Riboflavin to hopefully relieve those nasty symptoms some of you may experience.

The only real question is... which product of ours with this vitamin do you want to try first?
