Bioperine® (10 mg) - A black pepper extract that is 95% piperine. Piperine is an alkaloid that enhances the absorption of nutrients by inhibiting glucuronide. Glucuronide normally causes substances to be excreted instead of being absorbed. By inhibiting glucuronide, more nutrients (like vitamins) are absorbed. We even included a little extra to be confident all the different vitamins are being maximally absorbed.

Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin (1.1 mg) - RDA for women ages 19+ is 1.1 mg (21)

Vitamin B9 or Folate (400 mcg) - RDA for women ages 19+ is 400 mcg (26)

  • Folate is necessary for your body to make DNA, genetic material, and for your cells to divide properly.
  • Many supplements use folic acid, which the body then converts into the active form 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). But some people have difficulties making this conversion.   • Vitamin K's most important role in the body is that it's needed for blood clotting. It also helps maintain healthy bones. Vitamin K comes in different forms; there is phylloquinone (vitamin K1) and menaquinones (vitamin K2).

  • Choline is an essential nutrient with similarities to B-vitamins. Choline's needed to synthesize phospholipids for cell membranes, otherwise your cells would fall apart. It also plays a role in brain development, memory, and muscle control.

  • Chromium enhances the action of insulin, the hormone that determines how your body uses and stores sugar or glucose. It's also directly involved in carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism.

  • Why do we only have half the RDA for calcium? People can generally only absorb around 500 mg at once effectively. It also competes with magnesium, iron, and zinc for absorption, so a higher dosage would decrease the absorption of those other minerals.

Magnesium (160 mg) - RDA for women ages 31+ is 320 mg (46)

  • Magnesium is a cofactor in over 300 different enzyme systems. It's needed to regulate blood pressure, blood glucose, protein synthesis, and DNA synthesis. It also allows your body to send nerve impulses, form new bone, have functioning muscles, and have a normal heart rhythm.
  • Why do we only have half the RDA for magnesium? Magnesium has an Upper Limit of 350 mg in dietary supplements, which means including the 100% RDA would be very close to that threshold.

Potassium (99 mg) - AI for women ages 19+ is 2,600 mg (47)

  • Potassium is needed for just about everything your body does. It maintains intracellular fluid volume and serves as an electrolyte. Your heart, kidneys, muscles, and nervous system all particularly require potassium for them to function properly.
  • Why do we only have 99 mg when the AI is so much higher? The FDA frowns upon dietary supplement pills including more than 99 mg in a product because certain potassium drugs are limited to 99 mg.
