What Is In Pre-Workout?

What Is Pre-Workout? Should You Use it?

Here's what you need to know. Pre-Workout has a place in almost everyone's life. Because you are not going to be feeling 100% heading into every workout. Sometimes you'll feel tired, lethargic or unmotivated. And if this is ever you then all you may need is a properly formulated pre-workout.

What should pre-workout do for you? There are 3 main categories that a pre-workout should cover.

1. It should greatly enhance blood flow and nitric oxide levels in the body. Ingredients like L-Citrulline serve as 'vasodilators' to expand your veins and arteries. This makes it easier for blood to flow around your body, delivering nutrients and oxygen quicker and more efficiently.

2. It should improve your brain cognition. So this means improving energy levels, focus, and concentration. Ingredients like Alpha-GPC will help your brain be more focused and energized by increasing the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. And things like L-Tyrosine will increase the levels of several neurotransmitters in the brain such as dopamine, adrenaline and norepinephrine to give you more motivation.

3. It should also make sure you stay hydrated for your workout. This means it should be supplying your body with a lot of electrolytes that you will soon be losing with sweat. These include sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and zinc.

And you can get all 3 of these benefits without any stimulants! Which is why pre-workout can benefit just about anyone. Because the ingredients needed to accomplish these 3 benefits are all natural and stim-free.

Now you can certainly add stimulants to your pre-workout routine if that's your forte, like taking some extra caffeine separately. But a base pre-workout formula should be able to give you the focus, energy, and motivation you need without any stims.

This also ensures the pre-workout formula is safe. High-stim pre-workouts are notorious for having sketchy safety profiles. Some have very high caffeine dosages, and some have other grey area ingredients like amphetamine cousins. Some pre-workouts basically contain ecstasy, or close to it. Which has made the safety of taking a pre-workout a top question and priority. But these worries are not a concern in a stim-free pre-workout.

And when you feel confident in the safety of pre-workouts, then you can start enjoying the benefits. With better blood flow, focus and energy, it’s pretty clear that you're going to perform better during your workout. And great workouts lead to great results. Who wouldn't want to optimize their output and performance?

For most people, the ideal time to take your pre-workout is around 15-30 minutes before your workout — this should give the supplements enough time to hit your bloodstream and have you ready to go for your session.
